5/25/14 onboard Nirvana

...competition heats up!  Our friends from North of the US border are specializing in potatoes!  Another feast veggie style.  Exceptional veggie burgers with the works! Grilled onions, chipotle mayo and to top it off.... drumroll.... Awesome french fries.  We are getting to the final days of our competition... who will be crowned offshore iron chef?  The fridge contents are less varied than before... we shall see!

Port tack, 15-20kts, wind at 50-60 apparent approximate boat speed 7.2 (goes from 5.4-8.6), swells are 8-10 feet. Reefed main and stays'l.

Closing in on Hiva Oa.... and hopefully some showers and laundry!

S/V Nirvana out.

  1. Have really enjoyed the last few posts. Congrats on crossing the equator. It's wonderful that you are in good wind again. That really picks up the spirits. Impressive sacrifice to Neptune, by Harrison.
It will be a bit of an adjustment, being back on land. Wobbly legs for a few days, and if you close your eyes durinig that first shower on land, you might feel like you will topple over. It's not an easy trip for the first timers. Well done on rising to the challenge. Fair seas for the rest of your passage on this leg.
