Aug 16, 2014 update

We hung out in Oponohu Bay, Moorea for about a week. We had Tom Malone and his daughter Casey with us to enjoy hiking, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, and feeding the sting rays and sharks. Axel learned how to hitchhike here. On the way back from one of our hikes, he was getting tired, so he stuck out his thumb and the first car stopped. They could only take Axel, Gary and me a short distance, so Axel tried it again with the next car. This car stopped but could only fit one person, so Axel said I'm tired, I will take the ride, see you mom and dad in a few minutes at the end of the road. He loved to freedom of going off on his own. After Oponohu Bay, we went around the corner to Haapiti. Haapiti is known for its big waves. Gary caught a few, but some days they were too big for anyone to ride. This also made going through the pass very exciting. We actually buried the bow twice in the big waves.

Now we are in Huahine. It is beautiful and peaceful here. We are in town right now, but will head out to the most tranquil white sand beach spot later today. Tom and Casey left yesterday, and for the first time since leaving San Diego, it is just our family on Nirvana. We have loved our guests, but this is a nice change. We plan on spending a few more days in Huahine before heading to Raiatea. The supermarket here in Huahine is the best we've seen on any of the small islands, so we continue to eat well. We have had fantastic fish, made poission cru yesterday with red tuna that melted in your mouth. Plus we were spoiled with many meals of mahi mahi, see the previous blog about the massive mahi mahi we caught.
