5/18/14 onboard

Half Way!

A few minutes ago I checked the gps and we have under 1400 miles to go to the Marquesas.  More great news- excellent easterly breeze!  About 12-15knots, with quartering seas.  Currently sailing with a reeef in the main and the stay'sl.  For the past two days we have seen massive amounts of flying fish.  Our bow will go over a wave and scare a school of them out of the water, a school of 30-50!  This early am watch had us hit by flying fish.  First Scott was startled by one coming at him on deck, then I got hit in the back by one while sitting in the cockpit and then another came at Angela while she was sitting in the cockpit.  Im sure the last two had nothing to do with all of the dolphins around the boat;)!  We were escorted by dolphins for at least 45 minutes with them all around us, jumping, flopping and probably chasing and eating our flying fish. And then to top it all off we had a gorgeous sunset! The squalls coming through last night and this am actually brought us our first "official" rain- according to the Vancouverites.  The other stuff yesterday didnt count...

SV Nirvana out.
PS Chilequiles were awesome!
