Nirvana is trucking along rumb line! We have great breeze and 6-8 foot waves. Last night got quite windy, up to 28 apparent. It is warm! We are all trying to find shade wherever we can, next idea is to try out the shade sides for the bimini. Still tons of flying fish but no fish on our lines! Reefed main and stay'sl. All good here!
SV Nirvana out.
Enjoyed the reading on the blog! 6-8 foot waves or swell? I would guess with all the wind, could be waves. Clueless, landlocked person here!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying the updates. Congrats on your half way mark! It's nice that you are sailing on rhumb line, and in good breeze. The second half will go fast. Looking forward to some photos.

Those are 6-8 foot swells, but there will be wind waves on top of the swells.
ReplyDeleteDid you guys make something for the sides of the bimini? If I had gone on another trip with her I would have fashioned some canvas to fasten on the sides. When we were at anchor we often hung large beach towels over the sides and even the back of the bimini. I noticed that you did not have the part of the bimini that covered the bench in back. No one except me really liked it...they said it interfered with the piloting of the boat. There is a piece of the canvas cover that goes between the bimini and the dodger but that is really only usable when the boat is anchored or in port. Hard to find shade in that cockpit! Imagine what she was like before Gary fitted her with the dodger and the bimini! Andrew and Kate never had either, and I don't think the Carver's ever covered her at all either. Shade is a big deal for me, so I was happy that we installed the bimini and the dodger. But when we were racing, or docking, Mark would alway tie the bimini back anyway. You guys are very brave to be out there so long, but sounds like you are having a wonderful time, other than the issues with sails and the fridge. But that is sailing! Fair winds.
